Reading W11 T2

This week for reading we were in homebasses again.

My goal for the week is: Independently predict, interpret and analyse text, 'reading between the lines' to gain deeper meaning.

For my task/create task was to watch some videos, and chose a book to read which prefers to our level. We also had to complete a template of some sentences and what we predict and infer.

Maths T2 W11

This week for maths we were in homebasses again. 

This week we focused on shapes. We had three maths task to do, one of them was a must, and two others we could pick, the must was a blue sheet on shapes, there edges, faces ect I will be sharing pictures of my work down bellow after I explain my other tasks. 

We also had to do three goals. 

Goal 1: Relate 3D models to 2D representations, and vice versa

Goal 2: Identify and sort 2D and 3D shapes into classes. Define the properties of the shapes and justify the decisions made.

Goal 3: Represent objects with drawings and models.

Im going to include one of my tasks down bellow!

Kia ora, my name is Ruby, I have a privilege of being a year 8  student at St Francis of Assisi School. My teacher this year  is Whitney Hansen along with 2 more Teachers, Kate Parker & Rebecca Henderson. I have a older sister Lilla & a younger brother Zach! As a learner, I enjoy playing Netball, Touch, Basketball and Cricket. For one of my Goals this year is to be ready for high school along with getting up to Bowers's ultimate lair as it is the highest self management level. This year I am looking forward to sport activities Leadership groups ect.

Maths W10 T2

This week for maths my goal is: use a broad range strategies to solve multiplication and division problems with whole numbers 

For maths this week I am doing rounding and compensation to whole numbers.
For my task I have to make a DLO on what I had learnt including my goal and a Blog! I made a DLO and did 2 Multiplication and 2 Division tasks.

Writing W10 T2 πŸ˜„πŸšΎπŸ’―


This weeks goal  for writing this week is, use a range of written features to engage the audience. 

For my create task we learnt about complex sentences and compound sentences. Complex has a  Independent clause and dependent clauses. A independent is a sentence that can stand on its own!
Example of a complex sentence could be "The tree was as tall as giraffe, as it tumbles down" 
Where do you think the independence clause is and where is the dependent?  

If you guessed that the independent clause is "The tree was as tall as a giraffe" Because you can write a sentence with just the tree was as tall as a giraffe. The dependent clause is "as it tumbles down" why? 
Because you dont write a sentence that says "as it tumbles down"  In a complex sentence there is also a 
conjunction, a conjunction is what joins the sentence together, where do you think a conjunction would go in this sentence? "The tree was as tall as giraffe, as it tumbles down" 
In that sentence there is also a simile, the simile is "The tree was as tall as a giraffe" Because I am comparing something to something else. 

If you guess the word was "as" then you were right!

Reading W9!

Hello, welcome to another post for the week, this one is about reading! 
In reading this week my goal was Visualise using all of the senses, and talk about how this enriches meaning.
For my reading task we had to read Willy Wonka,just like the movie but we read it, for our task we had to use a template read apart of the book then draw or make a google drawing of the thing that we visualise!

Maths t2 w8

Hey everyone!
Today I am going to be sharing another blog for the week but for maths week 9. in maths this week my goal is use a broad range of strategies to solve multiplication and division problems using whole numbers and decimals. In maths this week we had to prove that we knew how to do this, by answering heaps of questions, I really enjoyed doing some of the decimal ones. For my task we had to make a DLO I made a slide show, in my slide show I proved that I do know how to do this goal.

Maths task/follow up! WK8 T2!!!

Hey everyone. today I will be sharing you a little bit of my maths for the week!
My goal was !

Use a broad range of strategies to solve multiplication and division problems with whole numbers.


This week for maths we had to choose between beginner, stepping up, or confident! Beginner is working the level 3, stepping up is level 4 along with confident. I decided to do beginner as It suited me! In beginner we had to answer 4 R & C (Rounding & compensating) questions. 5 D & H (Double & Halving) 4 reversibility and 6 place value. A example or R & C would be that I had a question  47 x 4= first I would add 3 to make a whole number, then it would be 50 x 4= which makes =200, then I would get the 3 we added and times that by with the 4 on 50 x 4, 4 x 3= 12 then I would get the 200 again and minus 12 that we added. answer would be 188!!! 
Also for the week we had to make a DLO (Digital learning object) I made a google drawing! On our DLO's  we had to include 4 questions we had answered I did one from each.  R & C D & H reversibility and place value!

Writing wk8!!

(This week for writing we were also in homebasses if you read my reading blog you would know)
Hello everyone! 
This week for writing we had to make a narrative, but first we had to make a plan. The teachers made a video of explaining what to do for writing this week. In my plan I included some main parts, but not all of it, in writing we had a choice to in search of a goal, which is like looks ing for something which you could right about or, there and back again. I choose to write about there and back again. 

 I write about a lady named Kim who "passed" from a deadly flu, she didn't actually pass she was brought back to the 17 hundreds. Kim has to find away to escape until she finds people spying on her, there was a red and a black team, the red team wanted people who had died from the flu to stay in the 17 hundreds for ever and the black team would let them go under one codiation they had to join the black team and for them, by doing challenges.

Reading wk8

This week in Reading we actually did not have workshops. We worked in our Homebasses. We had to read three books and do three activity's for reading. For my activity's I did a postcard, a A-Z list of words in my book and a Book Review.

 For my post card I write to my friends Ella & Neila! In my post card I read a book called understanding OCD. In my postcard I talked about who the charters where, where the setting was, the problem and more. My book was about a girl named Tia had OCD which made her very frustrated and exhausted. One day at lunch these kids at school saw Tia struggling with her OCD how she can't let her food touch each other or bad things will happen or she cant let other kids touch her at lunch or bad things will happen too. After lunch these kids approached Tia talking about how he Gabriel surfers from OCD, after talking about it everyday they became best friends.

For my A-Z list I read a book about bees (im not going to put as much detail as I did in the postcard) 
I read a book called "Honey bees" this book is a really long book so I will include a little bit, but in my book they talk about, the buzzing noises of honey bees, honey bees body and inside the bee hive, there was more but it was very long.

For my last one I did a book review. For my book review I read a book called "lost at sea" basically my book was about these two boys, Troy and Josh who were out finishing and they got caught in a rip, they floated out to see, after a couple days a massive ship with heaps on containers  speed past creating a massive wave that nearly tepid them, after a couple days a fishing boat came past and helped them.
